Plein Air Painting

Plein Air Paintings are usually landscape in content and created on the site of the inspiration as the artist is able to then match color and depth. This area of the Modern Art movement began by people who took painting out of the studio and into the air.

"It is exciting to spend long periods of time in one space recording with pigment the changes of the sun and weather. I also love to watch the paint dry. In these paintings I used metallic acrylic paint to render the sky and as you move around the painting the sky's color changes. Cool huh? We all need to look at the peace of silent woods sometime. "

The frames were custom made for these pieces, as well as for all of her two-dimensional work, by Tara at Orange Tree Gallery.

Energy Series - Live, everyday creative energy is represented in pigment on paper in this series.  Vivid color is not something humans experience often as human eyes are drawn to contrast, edges and intense color.

Color more than any other element in art brings human feeling.  Colors have symbolism and meaning without image or word.
